Been too long

Okay, so it has been nearly 15 months since we updated this, shame on us...hopefully we can get better. But after the weekend we just had, I felt it imperative to continue to document and share. The weekend didn't start so well, Daddy blew his top trying to get Jonah and Eli to bed Friday night, but after that the rest of the weekend was a dream. (Thanks to TT Green for the hipstomatic snapshot). This is a shot of the boys in their first swim class all together. We had Jonah in another class, but it was just too stressful for him and us because we weren't in the pool with him. So we took him down a level and he LOVED it. This was also Eli's first class ever and he too had a ball. The best part is Logan is in the class with them. It was like night and day from the last class, instead of tears, we got laughs and giggles and screams of joy! I can't wait to go next weekend.

The rest of the weekend pretty much followed suit. Jonah, Eli and Daddy had a weekend full of errands and chores and we had a blast together. We bought Jonah his first hot wheels track, and Eli got a motorized James. Then the three of us went to Home Depot to get some bricks to make a small retaining wall and Jonah helped me build a "dirtbox" (as opposed to sandbox) underneath our back stairs. It has been a place where the kids play for awhile, but we made it official and created an actual box, to keep the dirt off the walkway. Through the entire process, Jonah repeatedly thanked me for my effort....too cute. One exchange went like this:

"Thanks Daddy for digging that out," Jonah exclaimed.
"Jonah, I would be happy to do anything if you keep thanking me," I replied.
"Daddy I'll keep thanking you if you do nice things," Jonah expressed.
"Fair enough," I said.

And then late Sunday, we lost one of Eli's most prized possessions...his Pacie (or Boppy as Eli calls it). Meg and I, like true parents do when presented with a perilous situation in which their youngest, who can't quite communicate effectively, loses the one thing that makes him go to sleep easy...we panicked. We ransacked the house, but to no avail. We finally bucked up and decided that now was as good a time as any to officially get rid of the pacifier, I mean what else could we do. Well, so far so good, outside of some Boppy exclamations from Eli, he ultimately went to sleep without it and slept through the night - Score! Now mind you we found it in the Thomas the Tank Engine roundhouse once we cleaned up that night, but shhhhhh! Don't tell Eli! Stay strong today Meghan, stay strong.

Freeze!

Yesterday morning Jonah put on Logan's robe and ran around the train table like he always does when "she'll be coming around the mountain" is on. I was trying to take a pic and I said "freeze" so he held out his hands and froze for the pic. Then he kept on going again and again and again. meanwhile...Eli was entertaining himself with his reflection. And yes...his hair is still missing in the back and on the sides.

Like father, Like sons

One more thing.... after Eli finished his bottle they all assumed their position in front of the TV.

Freedom!

Finally, after 4 long months, Eli took the bottle. And that's all I have to say 'cause I have some beers to drink! :)

What up Rainy Dayz

There have been quite a few rainy days lately. usually we are in our PJs most of the day and I am struggling to find ways to entertain until Chris gets home. The other morning we were building yet another train track in Jonah's room so I put Eli in Jonah's bed. This is what unfolded. Eli was actually enjoying it. Jonah wasn't quite ready to share his pillow. After doing this for a while we moved on to castle building and Eli moved to the exersaucer. Miracle of all miracles both boys are sleeping right now!!! Jonah who never naps any where other than the car is asleep on our bed and Eli is in his fav place...the swing. Just a short post but the pics were too cute not to put up.

I'm finally joining the modern blogger world

I know, I know we should have done this a long time ago. Finally, after getting so frustrated with Kodak and their one photo at a time upload...and then being too exhausted to then add captions, I decided enough is enough. So here we go...

First things first: Eli found his feet! Two days after his 4 month check up when the doctor asked me if he had found his feet and, after searching my memory bank trying to remember if I've seen him grab his feet or what "find his feet" even means, feeling like a bad mom 'cause I hadn't noticed this milestone, I replied "hmmm um, I don't know." And here we go. he loves his feet. And, apparently his thumb....fingers crossed that doesn't last.

We took my dad to the SF Zoo one sunny afternoon so he could experience the joy of watching/helping Jonah feed the giraffes. We pack up Eli, Jonah, snacks, jackets etc. Of course Jonah falls asleep in the car on the way there (he still refuses to nap at home but the second we are in the car he is out for over an hour) so we wake him up so we don't miss the 4pm feeding. As we happily walk 5 miles to the Zoo (okay not 5 miles but it felt like it!) in the brisk breeze, we remember previous feedings where Jonah has been licked, and has given bananas and leaves. Now that he is super excited to share this event with "papa" we should have expected a sign on the Giraffe Barn that read "closed today" oops. Here is a pic of my dad holding Jonah up while Jonah is yelling to the giraffes "sorry I can't feed you today giraffes, I'm sorry."

Then Eli got hungry/fussy so I had to feed him in front of the flamingos. That was good freezing times. My dad said that they were white when we got there (they blushed...get it?!). That's all for now. Eli is waking up and I have to get dressed before Chris and Jonah get home from My Gym.
